Traveling to America - Lacma Los Angeles

Hello babes! Stop swearing, I know I kept you waiting, but I had some severe changes going on. Let me update you quickly on my life. I finished finally university. Now I am officially a cultural journalist – BAM! 😀 Afterwards I worked for a short time on a project in marketing and also traveled to America to see my mom. We visited San Francisco, Los Angeles and Newport Beach. In this time I reflected on my life and planned on my future and many things got more clear to me. The american mentality was like a therapy for me. In Germany, especially in Hamburg, people are mostly reserved and not that communicative like I experienced in California. I have been in San Francisco before, but I was a teen and didn’t really care about connecting with people. Today everything is different. I love to meet new people and find out about their lives, their dreams, jobs, family. Really I cannot help my curiosity. In a job interview I would have to say, that I am passionately curious. Anyways back to my traveling.

Magical Newport Beach. (Click here to get information about Newport Beach).

I don’t know if you heard, but often you hear that Californian people are superficial. Well, let me clarify it from my point of view. Sure, I haven’t been there for long, but I do feel confident to make a statement about this prejudice or “fact”. Sure, it has some truth about it, but seriously, I prefer people being nice to me for a minute, than being rude from the beginning. In San Francisco we were standing at a train station, looking at the schedule, when not even a minute passed and total strangers came up to us, asking if we needed help. Same with the service. Now I really get it, when people say “you cannot call it ‘customer support’ in Germany”. 98% of our time in SF or LA we were literally treated as a Queen/King/unicorn. Here in Hamburg I am happy when the waitress gives me at least a smile. 😀 Coming back to Germany was again such a culture shock for me, because I really felt comfortable in San Francisco or Los Angeles. I promised to myself that I will keep this kind and openminded manner, which I learned in America. Even the people close to me mentioned that I really changed. I would like to bring some warmth to Germany, less judging, more tolerance and kindness. You cannot believe how refreshing it is, when you react at least with a simple smile. I gained new strength and inspiration.

The Observatory is a great place to see the City of Angels from the top and also a cool spot to take some pictures with the HOLLYWOOD sign.
